Employee Benefits – What is offered now and 20 years ago?

According to the Society for Human Resource Management’s (SHRM’s)2016 Employee Benefits Survey report released this month suggests Telecommuting, Bonuses and Professional Development is on the rise in the USA.

Interesting Findings

  • Since 1996, the percentage of organisations offering telecommuting has increased threefold (from 20 to 60 percent), and the percentage offering telecommuting on an ad hoc basis has increased from 45 percent in 2012 to 56 percent in 2016.
  • Executive coaching offered by 16 percent of organisations.
  • Genetic testing coverage for diseases such as cancer offered by 12 percent.
  • Compared with five years ago, more organisations are offering monetary bonus benefits such as employee referral bonuses, spot/bonus awards, sign-on bonuses for executives and non-executives, as well as retention bonuses for non-executives.
