Getting started
5 questions
How do I know if I need therapy?
If you’re struggling with stress, emotional challenges, relationship issues, or simply feel that something is off — those are all valid reasons to explore therapy. You don’t need a diagnosis or a crisis. Many people start therapy to understand themselves better or navigate a life transition. If you’re unsure, book a free clarity call and we’ll figure it out together.
Is therapy only for people with serious mental health issues?
No. Therapy is for anyone who wants to live with more clarity, less stress, and better relationships — regardless of whether they have a diagnosed condition. Most of my clients are high-functioning people who are tired of carrying something alone.
What happens in the first session?
We talk. You share what’s going on in your own words. I’ll ask questions to understand your situation and what matters most to you. By the end we’ll agree on what we want to work toward. There’s no assessment form or formal evaluation — it’s a conversation.
What if I’m unsure about opening up?
That’s completely normal — most people feel this way at the start. There’s no pressure to share everything at once. I work at your pace, in a non-judgmental space. Many clients find they’re more comfortable than they expected after the first 10 minutes.
Which therapy technique is right for me?
You don’t need to know. Choosing the right approach is my job. In our early sessions we’ll explore your goals and what resonates, then I’ll design a combination that fits your situation. I draw from ACT, CBT, MBSR, SFBT, GROW, IBCT, and Gottman.
Sessions & practicalities
7 questions
How long is a typical session?
Individual sessions are 50 minutes. Couples sessions run 75 minutes. The first session may run slightly longer as we establish context and goals together.
How often will we meet?
Most clients start with weekly sessions and reduce frequency as they progress. We agree on a rhythm that works for your schedule and goals — there’s no fixed obligation.
How long does therapy take to work?
Many clients notice meaningful shifts within 4–6 sessions. Deeper or longer-standing issues naturally take more time. You’ll never be in sessions longer than they’re actually helping.
Do you offer online sessions?
Yes — all sessions are online via video call. I work with clients across India and internationally. You just need a quiet space and a stable internet connection. Sessions are in English or Hindi.
Is therapy covered by insurance?
Coverage depends on your insurance plan. Some plans cover a portion of psychotherapy costs. I recommend checking directly with your provider. Documentation of sessions can be provided if required.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes — completely. Everything discussed in sessions is confidential by professional and ethical obligation. The only exceptions involve serious safety concerns, which would always be discussed openly with you first.
Do you work with children and adolescents?
Yes. Psychotherapy can be adapted effectively for younger clients using specialised approaches suited to their age group.
Specific concerns
4 questions
Can therapy help with phobias and fears?
Yes. CBT and ACT are particularly effective for specific phobias and anxiety-driven avoidance. Sessions proceed gradually at a pace that feels manageable — there’s no forced exposure before you’re ready.
Can therapy help with grief and loss?
Yes. Grief is one of the hardest things to carry alone. Therapy provides a safe space to process loss without a timeline — at whatever pace your grief actually moves, not the pace others expect of you.
Do you offer couples and family therapy?
Yes. Couples therapy is offered using IBCT and the Gottman Method, focusing on communication, trust, and recurring conflict patterns. Family sessions are also available where relevant.
Are therapy techniques equally effective for everyone?
No, and that’s why a tailored approach matters. Each person responds differently. I don’t apply one method to everyone — the combination is shaped by your personality, goals, and what’s working in our sessions.
